The new official music video of The Haverbrook Disaster's new single “The Chosen Few” is out now!

I also worked hard to make this release an eye candy: shot all scenes involving Jesse Barnett of Stick To Your Guns and also cameo-ing as one of the suit men.

Unfortunately, there are no making of photos. I used my EF 28mm/2.8 on my 60D and put it on a Glidecam HD-2000 to shoot Jesse and Andy, walking down the corridor in this old nazi bunker, haha. Jesse Barnett is one of the nicest persons I’ve ever met. When he starts telling stories, you’ll be amazed. He is so professional, this whole thing was a joy to work on.

Some weeks later we filmed the rest of the music video. But with me in front of the camera, together with two dozen of suited up guys. Don’t get confused; the video was produced and directed by Max Niklas of ambitious.films – I just helped out where I could. Uncredited, which is somehow disappointing, but this happens.

So now go check it out, some scenes are eye candy:

This is storytelling how I love it. ‘Run Boy Run’ by one of my favourite French musicians Woodkid, even you can count his releases on one hand.

Abstract, epic, visual, mysterious. The key components for Woodkid’s style of directing. A great inspiration.

One of my talented buddys from Karlsruhe who’s name is also Matt(hias) just released his first music video. Today is his birthday! So head over to youtube and write some nice comments, haha.

Also looking forward to release some of the photos I shot while he and his crew were painting a bridge with some nice styles…

Not really matching my primary musical taste: Madonna. I don’t know by heart how old she is but what I know, is, that she seems like never getting old and always reinventing herself (a bit). And so are her music videos.

Don’t know if I love or disgust this piece of audiovisual bewilderment. But I think you should take a look. If you’re on youtube and 18+ ;)

One of my favourite music videos ever. The German band ‘Deichkind’ not only creates unique music, they also have one of a kind music videos. A few days ago I wrote about music videos with bands playing their instruments. Well, I think music videos are the chance to create something above.

I think everyone gets the relation between the video and my words, so… let’s create awesome videos like this together.

Saponejo - Everything You Know

I filmed half of this music video for a mate of mine. His band Saponejo are based in Chile, but the singer/lead guitarist lives in Switzerland, so to film the video I had to film him jamming alone in the dark room, and then on the other side of the world his band mates got this footage and filmed themselves playing too, the lot was then edited and colour graded to look like they were all together as much as possible.

I filmed all of the shots with Nick, the singer / lead guitarist using a combination of a Canon 7D with a Nikon Nikkor 50mm f1.8 prime, and Canon’s kit 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 lens, as well as a GoPro Hero HD for the guitar solo which I had stuck on the guitar itself.

The end result is pretty cool considering no budget was put into this, and the backing track was played through a phone whilst filming!

Check it out, let me know what you think!

Today I thought much about music videos. Bands often are getting taped playing the song, without any story or tension in it. And I get really really bored of this stuff, no matter how well they’re technically made.

But this one is slightly different. The fact that they were shot seperately adds some kind of dialectic effect which evokes some tension. For having no budget and nothing more than the artists and some cameras? Well done!

One of those bands you follow on tumblr from their early career up to this moment they tour around near you. I don’t know if I can make it, but maybe I’ll see Paul Ford and his dudes together with Enter Shikari and Young Guns in Frankfurt soon.

Gotta see this movie! Dear cinema, I’m coming for ya this weekend!

This fanmade music video only represents one of the film’s two storylines. Makes sense for the song. But the storylines are so bound to each other that I really miss everything in this one… hm. Incredible soundtrack, though. Just listen.

Just skipped through my music folders to make my girlfriend a mixtape for christmas. I’m doing this for the fourth time now. We came together around christmas and although I did’nt really know her (or even her musical taste) I shocked her with a mixtape of the music I listened to, haha. So this is some kind of teasing tradition.

But why did I post a Wallis Bird Video which is more than three years old? While I was skipping through the files I had to neurotically reorganize them a litte, so this is how I found those old tapes and albums I haven’t listened to for years.

Wallis Bird is not only a great singer but also a pretty nice guitar player. Check out the story, how she lost all fingers of her left hand on the wikipedia biography. And enjoy the music video. It’s very well done!
